President Lula Shaw Cleckley



Lula Shaw Cleckley, a native of Holly Hill, SC, is the daughter of the late Bennie and Earther Lee Shaw. She received a B.A degree from Claflin University and a Masters of Education from South Carolina State University. Mrs. Cleckley continued her studies at Columbia College, College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina.

Mrs. Cleckley was a public school teacher in several school districts across the state of South Carolina. She retired from the Richland School District Two, Columbia, South Carolina.


Mrs. Cleckley served as Vice President of Student Life at Allen University. She is presently a realtor with Fathom Realty. 

She has always been an active AME Church member. She served as local Women’s Missionary Society president, Central Conference YPD director, Episcopal Standing Committee Chairpersons and the Seventh Episcopal District Third Vice President of the Women’s Missionary Society. In 2013, she was awarded Life Member in the Women’s Missionary Society.


Mrs. Cleckley is also an active member of the Ministers’ Spouses, Widows and Widowers Organization, Plus P.K’s. She served as Conference treasurer, Conference President and Seventh Episcopal District President. On the Connectional Level, she served as Chairperson of the Evaluation Committee and the Historian.


Mrs. Lula Shaw Cleckley is married to the Rev. Robert L. Cleckley, who is a retired pastor of the Columbia Conference, Seventh Episcopal District. They have two children: Minister LeBrian D. Cleckley, claims representative; and daughter, Dr. Robin D. Cleckley, a kindergarten teacher; one daughter-in-law, Shennice Cleckley, an entrepreneur. They are also the proud grandparents of Adrienne, Kiersten, Jared, Cassidy and Spencer.
