Lady Charmaine Alexander
Mrs. Charmaine J. Alexander is a native of Dawson, GA, where her mother, Mary James, still lives. She received a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) from Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, GA. She had a career of 26 years and 11 months with the Social Security Administration prior to her early retirement at age 47. She started as a Claims Representative Trainee and served in several management positions before retiring. She really enjoyed her career because she enjoyed being of service to the public, her co-workers, the employees she supervised, and fellow management team.
After retiring, she decided to find another way to served others. God led her to substitute teach in Newnan and Columbus GA. Affectionately called Mrs. A., she presently enjoys substitute teaching all grade levels, but especially enjoys the classes where she sees 20-25 different students each period touching the lives of 130-150 students a day.
Mrs. Alexander is a very active AME member and has been since 1988. She has served in several positions in the WMS at the local, area, and conference levels. She has held positions in the Lay Organization at the local and area level. However, she has always had a special place in her heart for the M-SWAWO, Plus P.K.s. She has held positions at all levels, including Conference Vice-President, Conference Treasurer, and District Treasurer. She was appointed Connectional P.K. Advisor and served six years. She is presently the Connectional Financial Secretary and has served as so since 2008. Also, she enjoyed serving on the Scholarship Committee for several years.
Mrs. Charmaine Alexander is married to the Rev. James Avery Alexander, Sr. They have five adult children Ricky and Ishia Alexander, James Jr. (J.A.) and Symone Alexander, and Christopher (C.J.) Alexander. They are richly blessed with three grandchildren, Alyssa, Kris, and Xavier. She is called “Granna” by her grandchildren and she enjoys spending as much time as possible with them.
